Erica Schrodt
Infant Mental Health Dual-Title Student
Erica Schrodt
Biography
After 5.5 years of teaching young children and working closely with infants, toddlers and their families, Erica was ecstatic about pursuing the IMH program at Wayne State University. She is currently working part-time toward her Master of Social Work with a Dual-Title Degree in Infant Mental Health and is interning with the Infant Mental Health team at Hegira Health, Inc. She also continues her work part-time in an early childhood educational setting, supporting teachers of children birth-5 years in their classrooms. Erica is particularly drawn to the field of Infant Mental Health because of her love of working with and caring for infants, as well as her fascination with neurological development and the role that attachment plays. After graduation, she plans to work as an infant mental health clinician. Her dream role would be to work on an interdisciplinary team in a NICU where she could advocate from both the infants and their families while in a medical environment. Outside of school and work she volunteers with Ele's Place-Ann Arbor, where she co-facilitates a play based bereavement group for children in first and second grades. She is also very active with her sorority, Sigma Kappa and is an active member of the Detroit Alumnae Panhellenic Association (DAPA).
