Biography

Manessa Riser is a third-year Doctoral Student in the Translational Neuroscience Program at Wayne State University School of Medicine, working under the mentorship of Dr. Tanja Jovanovic at the Detroit Trauma Project. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Neuroscience from Wayne State University. Her graduate research focuses on the neurobiology of trauma, specifically investigating how childhood trauma exposure impacts inhibitory control and examining the role of caregiver behaviors in mitigating the risk of negative mental health outcomes during adolescence.
