Healthier Urban Families Outreach Program
Parent/Grandparent Advisory Board
The Parent/Grandparent Advisory Board will give us feedback on what type of services are needed in the community and advise us as to the kinds of seminars/trainings that we can offer to enhance their family life. They will also assist in promoting our outreach services.

Ms. Shirley Glen is the mother of three children, Shellena, Coretta and Gordon (Gordy) and the grandmother of eleven grandchildren: Dennis, Keishawana, Darius, Shaleece, Chalfontae, Cedrick, Deon, Cheyenne, Jerry, Daequan, and Gordon. Ms. Glen really enjoys time with her family including going to the movies, the mall and church. She also likes to travel and enjoys family reunions. |

Ms. Melody is the mother of three daughters aged 34, 30 and 28 and the grandmother of nine ranging in age from three to 18 years old. Melody is very involved with her grandchildren and says that they keep her active. |

Mr. Harvey Watts has two children and four grandchildren. He has attended college and is a veteran. Mr. Watts is a GMC employee and is involved in groups that help children and families. He enjoys music including jazz, blues and oldies but goodies. He also likes playing cards, checkers, pool and reading fiction. Mr. Watts attends church. |

Ms. Regina Ann Campbell is married to Terrance and they have two sons, five-year-old Torrence and one- year- old Tyler. Ms. Campbell and her mother are Wayne State University alumni. Her son Torrance attended The Merrill Palmer Skillman Institute Child Development Lab. Ms. Campbell feels that children are our most important resource and that quality education must be a priority for our children to compete globally. She believes in the saying the “It takes a Village to Raise a Child”. Regina and her husband belong to public service organizations that serve children. |

Ms. Tanneshia Coleman is the proud mother of two children, eleven year old Demaia and four year old Demani. She is a life-long resident of Detroit who attended Kettering High School and Wayne State University. Ms. Coleman is most proud of being a strong, loving parent. She volunteers as much as possible at their schools and serves at her church. |

Ms. Phyloese Gilbert is married and has two children, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. |

Ms. Theresa Johnson is the mother of two sons and the grandmother of three grandsons ages six through twelve, and one five year old granddaughter. |
